You can make a difference and represent your community as a councillor or mayor.
The Local Government elections will be held on 16 March 2024. If you’ve ever considered running for council, now’s the time to learn what it’s all about and see if you’re eligible.
The mandatory pre-nomination training for the 2024 Local Government election will be happening on Mornington Island in January. If you’re running for election, you must complete the “So you want to be a councillor” training within 6 months of your nomination, even if you’ve done it before. This is a great chance to complete yours!

- Tuesday 23 January 2024 Lunchtime session 12 – 2pm
- Tuesday 23 January 2024 Evening session 4 – 6pm
- Wednesday 24 January 2024 Morning session 9 – 11am
- Thursday 25 January 2024 Lunchtime session
