This challenging hands-on role covers all aspects of HR and administers key HR processes. Central to the role is the coordination of recruitment of local, trades and other position vacancies.

Key responsibilities:

• Coordinate and support return to work planning and initiatives.
• End to end recruitment activities.
• Preparing employment contracts, variations, separations and other HR documentation.
• Maintain best practice records management of all HR related documents.
• Provide advice to Council employees on matters relating to HR policies, systems and processes.
• Travel and entitlement checking and processing.
• Continuous improvement of HR processes.
• Support HR Manager in sourcing and reporting on key HR metrics, legislative and other research, and administration.

Skills and experience

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

• Experience in a similar generalist HR role.
• Ability to work in a hands-on role with a high level of attention to detail. Not afraid of getting in and tackling administrative improvements.
• High level of ethics, confidentiality, and ability to exercise discretion.
• Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills are essential and previous experience working in a local government will be highly regarded but not essential.
• Qualifications in HR or a related discipline would be an advantage.
