Local Laws

Queensland local governments have adopted a diverse range of local laws to assist them to govern their respective areas.

The Local Government Act 2009 empowers local governments to make local laws suitable to their needs and resources to achieve the purpose and principles of local government.

The Department of Local Government, Racing, and Multicultural Affairs maintain a database of local laws enacted by councils across Queensland.
